EDC Threaded Top Cap Kit

The Threaded Top Cap is the original, most widely-used and most cost-effective way to store an EDC V2 Tool in your steerer tube. It’s also the world’s lightest headset top cap, the #1 choice for the world’s fastest enduro racers and it lets you store more in your stem than any other option.

The Threaded Top Cap Kit includes the EDC Top Cap, EDC V2 Tool System, and a Plug Kit - the ultimate EDC stem storage kit.

Check to see if your fork is compatible with our EDC Fork Compatibility Tool.

Please note the EDC Top Cap requires you to thread your steerer tube with an EDC Tap. If you don't want to buy the tap tool, your local OneUp dealer may be able to install it for you.

Select the colour of EDC Top Cap you want to add to your kit from the dropdown below, then click "Add to Cart". If a colour is missing from the dropdown menu, it is out-of-stock.

Threaded Top Cap.

The magic of the EDC Top Cap is how it's installed on your steerer tube. In order to install the Top Cap, you have to thread the steerer tube of your fork. Our EDC Tap Tool makes the job quick and easy. You don’t even need to remove your stem.

V2 Tool System.

The 20-function EDC V2 Tool is the heart of the Threaded EDC system. It includes a 10 function Multi-Tool, Tire Lever, Chain Breaker, steel spoke keys, quick link storage, and a small and large storage capsule designed to a jabber, tire plugs, and quick link pliers.

Plug & Plier Kit.

The EDC Plug & Pliers kit is the perfect addition to the Threaded EDC tool system. The full kit of pliers, a tire jabber, and additional plugs will only fit EDC Threaded and 100cc pump. Be ready for anything with EDC Threaded.

FAQ

Can I buy just the bottom fork plug? Or just the Top Cap?

We do not have the fork plugs or top caps available as a single item. They are only sold as apart of this EDC top cap kit.

Why is my tool hard to remove from the top cap?

It is likely that the top O-ring is dry. Best thing to do is rub a small amount of grease onto the o-ring and re-install it.

If that does not help, please email us at support@oneupcomponents.com.

Will threading my fork steerer void my fork warranty?

Although some companies will state that threading their steerers will void the warranty, we have not been shown evidence of any failures directly a result of a threaded steerer tube.

My tool Is stuck inside the top cap, what do I do?

There are a couple possibilities for this:

1. Is the mutli tool oriented correctly within the EDC tool body? If it is backward and not meshing will the tire lever, the tool will bulge and be difficult to remove

2. The multi tool side plate bolts have loosened off and are jamming against the top cap.

For both situations the solution is to: 1. Loosen the stem bolts

2. Using soft jaw pliers, or pliers with a cloth, loosen off the top cap.

3. pull the top cap and tool off the steerer tube.

4. Either remove the multitool, or tighten the side plate bolts. The tool will then slide out of the top cap and you can reassemble everything correctly.

Please email support@oneupcomponents.com if you have any trouble with this process, or damage anything, and we will be happy to help.

Can I install a star nut after threading the steerer tube?

It will irreversibly damage the threads you have tapped into your fork. However, if you need to install a star nut - it will work.

That said, if you revert back to a star nut - you will not be able to run a threaded top cap again, on that fork.

"Fantastic part just make sure you have a quality cassette tool or you will scratch and round off the teeth"

Through headset routing for barspins

"I used this to allow easy routing of the front brake through the headset. Very easy to install and works perfectly!"

Lee B. (5/5)

Wish I had gotten earlier

"After fitting 2 bikes with the threadless EDC holder I had a fork that would not fit one. I had been dubious on threading the steerer tube previously, but figured it was worth a shot. Stupid easy, more storage space. This is the route I will go from now on."

Edc

"easy to install with the tap, I have done my fox 40 and fox 38 forks now, bit of sanding for the fox 38 to get the tool to fit, 2015 fox 40 only fits small storage on the bottom(tapers down too much for the large storage) super happy with all Oneup component prodaucts"

Mark F. (5/5)

Holds the fork in place

"what else is there to say. It holds the fork in place. That is what it is supposed to do. And it does. Great that I can use a standard tool (believe it is the cassette tool) to screw it on there."

Oskar B. (5/5)

Works well.

"Works well."

Russ R. (5/5)

Overall really nice

"Found it to be an easy install overall if you follow the instructions and ensure enough spacer room above to preload the headset. I had previously noted quite a few people saying the top cap didn’t seat nicely with other cassette tools, resulting in scratching and damage to the top cap. I pre tested my cassette tool and found that there was a lot of play as well. I gave it a wrap with a bit of electrical tape and that was enough to snug it up and prevent damage to the top cap, without affecting the install on two bikes. Otherwise really happy with it. Considering adding one to my commuter bike as well."

Q&A

Will this fit onto an amflow pl carbon pro?
Hey Richard, it depends what fork you've got on your bike. Please check in with our EDC fork calculator! Or send me your Fork Brand, Fork Series, Model, Model Year, Steerer Tube Length.
Hello, thinking of getting either Ohlins rxf 38 m.2 Rockshox zeb ultimate 3.1 Fox 38 factory forks. Could you tell me which will take the threaded edc? Thanks
Hi Richard, Thanks for your message, I'm happy to help.  The Ohlins and Rockshox will both take the Threaded Top Cap, Fox 38s are not compatible with any of our EDC options anymore. Hope this helps, please let me know if there's anything else I can do for you. Cheers,
Hi Oneup, love the gear by the way, I have the pedals and recently bought the full EDC system and pump. fantastic bit of kit, unfortunately the bung for the bottom that seals off the underneath of the fork doesn't fit because its an e-bike fork. do you have any plans to make a wider one specifically for e-bike forks? Thanks
Hi Adam, Thanks for your message, I'm happy to help.  I'm guessing you have a Fox 36 or 38? We don't have plans to make a wider one, you'll need to swap out the o-ring that sits above the large storage capsule with the anti-rattle washer that was included with the V2 Tool (zip tied to the back of the packet). Hope this helps, please let me know if there's anything else I can do for you. Cheers,
